I am particularly looking at this for the use of a book award committee to share which books have been requested, suggested, received (in a spreadsheet), and in the sharing of reviews for each item under consideration (in Word documents that are jointly edited - one per title).
In terms of the online editor, this is useful because each person can have their own color. While this might not be good for printing or for those with color-blindness or other visual 'issues,' this in conjunction with signing names to each contribution of a file will help tremendously.
The fact that others have to be invited to share means that everything will be kept private. Yet, because documents can be edited with whomever you choose, you can also work cross-platform, and from both home and work. Files do not have to be sent back and forth, filling in-boxes, and updates are readily available to anyone as soon as it is made without having to e-mail.
I am going to be proposing this for a book award committee I am on, and might even consider using this in one of my classes at a later point.
